Weights, curry, movie, in that order. (has lived here)

I stayed in the hospital staff accommodation block on new heath close for a few months in 2002. My bedroom was on the outside of the block closest to New Heath Close so I was often (painfully) woken up early in the morning by hospital traffic. But, my mate who was staying in the opposite bedroom away from the road had no problems with that.

I managed to keep myself entertained during the week by taking the short walk across Wolverhampton road to the cinemas and gym (which had plenty of weights and fitness equipment to choose from). Indian food featured heavily at dinner time given my lack of enthusiasm to cook and the number of bars/restaurants in the area providing delicious and cheap Indian food (possibly something to do with the area's large migrant population).

In terms of safety, I got the distinct feeling that the long late night walk down Wolverhampton Road back to New Heath Close from the city was not the safest option!

I have to say the whole area, including its many large housing estates, is a bit of an eyesore. It’s certainly not somewhere you would go for a picturesque holiday retreat! Despite this, I found that staying in New Heath Close for a few months wasn’t too bad considering that it was a work trip and because of the gym, cinemas, food, and my housemate.

Recommendation: Probably steer clear, but if you do go keep your eyes closed and catch a cab at night.
