More than just tennis! (visited the area)

Beyond being famous for the tennis centre and museum (and the Wombles if you were a kid in the '70s), Wimbledon is a fantastic, vibrant, contemporary town in south west London, just over 5 miles from the city centre. Well connected by rail and tram links, it is very easy to travel to Croydon, Clapham, Waterloo and Guildford from the town's train and tube stations, which include Wimbledon, Wimbledon Park, South Wimbledon, and Wimbledon Chase. A combination of fabulous recreational facilities and proximity to central London have made Wimbledon a popular location for families, but in particular for young professionals working in London. There is a strong demand for properties in the area, especially for large family homes in Wimbledon Village and Wimbledon Park, so property prices are some of the highest in greater London. Good schools are scattered through the town as are a large number of businesses and retail outlets. Shopping is great in Wimbledon and so is nightlife and entertainment. There are some great pubs and restaurants in the town centre as well as the New Wimbledon Theatre which brings in many West End productions.
