“
Small urban location near Croydon and London
”
(visited the area)
A modern town by English standards, Coulsdon sits just outside of Croydon in Surrey, a 20 – 30 minute train journey from central London. An urban location that is home to two rail stations, Coulsdon South and Smitham, Coulsdon has great public transport and road links to London, Brighton, Gatwick, Croydon and Wallington. The town has recently enjoyed the addition of the long-awaited bypass, which has given the town a greater community feel, and it is also set for modernisation, including the addition of a sports centre and more supermarkets. This tiny town has a strong, vibrant history and residnets can visit ancient burial mounds, an ancient church recorded in the Domesday book, and an industrial chalk quarry. There are plenty of retail and commercial premises in the town centre and roughly 10 places of worship scattered around the town. There are also lots of open park areas, ideal for joggers, walking the dog, kicking a football around or just chilling out on the weekends. Sporting activities are also held at these parks and are ideal for children. Some activities include crazy golf, tennis, basketball, cricket and beach games in the summer. Coulsdon is a perfect location for families and retirees and has quite a good reputation in the borough. It is home to 13 schools and property prices range from £120,000 - £450,000, depending on whether you're a professional seeking a studio flat or a growing family in need of a 4 bedroom house.
